Cheap Pallet

IMPORTANT INFO REGARDING PACKAGING

All pallets must be sufficiently wrapped in order to prevent damage when entering the transport system. You can read our Packaging Guide if unsure for more shipping and packing information. A pallet and wrap service is available during booking for a small charge; however this is subject to the approval from the allocated depot? If the depot is unable to provide this service on the requested date, you will be notified before collection takes place. It is the senders responsibility to ensure they have means of securing their goods to the pallet before transportation even if a wrapping service has been purchased as quite often goods will be wrapped at the depot. Any delays caused by failure to adhere to these terms may result in a £20 re-collection fee.

In any case before booking you must read the following checklist to ensure your consignment is suitable for collection.

  • Your pallet must be well packaged/wrapped and accessible for the network driver i.e. No lifts or stairs, and a flat surface to move the pallet truck on.
  • If you have ordered a pallet to put your goods on, your goods will still need to be wrapped/secured, unless you have booked this service via our website when booking, but in either case you will need to have your own means of lifting the goods onto the pallet. The driver WILL NOT provide this service unless it‛s safe to lift between you both, if you require help you should click the 'handball' option when booking, and make sure you are going to be there when they arrive to assist. The driver will have only a pallet trolley and tail lift. Again this service is subject to availability and the agreement of the depot? If your allocated depot is unable to provide this service when you require it, you will be informed before collection is attempted.
  • You will need to ensure that someone can be available at both the collection and delivery address, you will not receive a courtesy call beforehand for collections.
  • If the driver is unable to collect or deliver it, it will cost £20 plus vat to rebook as we have to pay the carrier for calling out. If the goods have already been collected and are unable to be delivered it will be £20 plus vat payable per pallet; however you will receive a call before delivery is made (unless you have selected to upgrade to next day delivery), so you will always know when it‛s coming. If you fail to answer, your pallet may be delayed and surcharges may be applied.
  • Both collection and delivery addresses must be accessible by a 7.5 tonne truck; the driver will be operating a tail lift and will need a level hard ground and room to manoeuvre the pallet and truck.
  • The weight and size of your consignment MUST fit into the dimensions and maximum weights allowed for the pallet you choose. Any surcharges we get charged due to misrepresentation will be passed on to the sender with a £10 admin fee added.
  • All engines and gearboxes must be drained of oil or any fluids before transportation. Any surcharges passed onto us due to damage caused to other consignments will be passed onto the sender. The customer must ensure that if a pallet is supplied, strapping (ratchet straps) is available to secure the engine/gearbox to the pallet. In all events all engines/gearboxes must be secured with strapping before transportation can take place.

The dipstick must be available for the driver to test that the engine is empty of oil. If the driver is not happy with the presentation of the engine they may refuse to take it and you will be charged £20 for a failed collection. If you adhere to all the required terms above this will not be an issue, if you are unsure please contact us first.

If you can meet all the above criteria you are ready to book.

Cheap Couriers UK Ltd can provide pallet services for the whole of the UK.

Booking on line is easy and only takes a couple of minutes. We have teamed up with Palletways who will be providing this service with full on-line tracking available. This will be a 1-2 day economy service (please note N Ireland, Scottish Highlands & Islands) may take a day or so longer. Next day delivery upgrade option is also available during booking.

We find a lot of 'ebay' buyers and sellers use our services, especially for 'collection' only. You can book it in yourself so all your seller needs to do is be in when they come. It‛s really that simple, they will even get a call first to let them know the delivery time.

The cut off time for same day pallet collections is 10am (pallet and wrap services are different). Any booked after this time will be collected the next day, although you will need to make sure someone is available at the address where the pallet is, as they can come any time after booking.

Why are Cheap Couriers UK cheaper than anyone else for pallet delivery?

Cheap Couriers UK aim to offer the cheapest rates on the market for pallet delivery. Occasionally however when other carriers have promotions or make certain routes cheaper as logistical zones change, some routes may be slightly cheaper than ours. In this instance we will do our best to match any genuine quote or provide if possible a cheaper quote than any of our competitors.

What are the maximum dimensions of a pallet when being collected?

The maximum dimensions allowed for a pallet are highlighted in the table below

These are the actual dimensions of your goods once sat on the pallet and do not include the pallet height.

A standard pallet is 1m by 1.2m, the table above will tell you if your pallet is a ¼, ½ or full pallet. If your pallet is outside the allowed dimensions of a standard pallet our website will highlight this during booking, as your pallet may be oversized. Please note the maximum width of a pallet consignment is 2.4m, and the maximum height allowed is 2m from the top of the pallet or 2.2m from the base. If your pallet is oversized there will be an extra charge for this as we get charged by the carrier for the two spaces it takes up.

How do I prepare my pallet for transportation?

Before your pallet can be accepted for transportation through our network, you must ensure it is both secure and well wrapped. Protecting and securing your goods is essential, firstly to protect your own consignment, and secondly to protect it from damaging other consignments. Unsecured goods and unprotected goods can cause delays in the network and may slow down the transportation of your consignment. Any insurance may also be invalidated.

Cheap Couriers UK offer a pallet and wrap service for most consignments, however top heavy goods, and consignments that are likely to move about during transportation will need to be secured before we can take them away.

Please note that engines and gearboxes need to be drained of any oil and secured with ratchet straps to a pallet before transportation can take place. Unfortunately we are unable to provide a pallet and wrap service for engines and gearboxes, or provide ratchet straps.

For further help on packaging please see our packaging guidelines

What items are prohibited from transportation?

The following items are not allowed for carriage, any attempt to send such items will cause delays and surcharges to be applied.

  • - All hazardous goods (If unsure please contact us)
  • - Living creatures or livestock
  • - Machinery that contains oil (All engines and gearboxes must be drained of oil)
  • - Controlled drugs
  • - Firearms
  • - Fireworks

Do you provide any insurance?

Cheap Couriers UK offer free standard insurance of £1300 per tonne, with additional insurance available during booking for up to £5000 per tonne. There is a £20 excess on all claims. Terms and Conditions apply.

Who is most likely to use a cheap pallet delivery service?
